Matching shapes to containers automatically

Is there a way to match shapes to containers based on shape data?

I have 10 containers each with a shape data field project name - i.e. 10 different projects

I have hundreds of shapes with other information including field project name. They are randomly split between these 10 projects.

How can i automatically assign these shapes into the appropriate containers?
