Connectors no longer connecting to shapes

Hi

I'm working with version 12.0.4518 (2007?) which until recently has been running perfectly

When I add shapes to a graphic and then try to add a dynamic connector - I can join one end to one of the shapes but no longer to the second shape.

Snap and Glue are all enabled

I can't see how I can reset or change the settings to get the expected behaviour
