Visio Backup Files?

I'm sooooo frustrated with Visio 2010.  In my Visio 2003, I could easily find the backup files but not with 2010.

LIke the post started by Greg on July 25, 2011, I have my backup set to every 10 minutes and it faithfully interrupts my work to save my file(s).  While it's "annoying", I've always been comforted that it anything happened, I'd be able to get my files back.  Well, that was true with 2003, but not with 2010!!

I actually physically saved two files I was working on yesterday morning at 8:25 a.m. and then lost power to the PC shortly thereafter (10 minutes or so).

So, this morning, I turn on the PC and had faith in my physical save and my automatic saves ... only to find that neither was the case.

The two files I was working on that I saved ... they just aren't on the PC!  Worse yet, the parent files they were taken from both come up with an Error (100) message.  (The only versions of the files I was working on are the parent files ... one is Sept. 2013 and the other June 4, 2014.  However, I've SAVED those files to new names and worked on them YESTERDAY, June 25.  The new files aren't on my PC and the parent files both come up with the Error 100 message.)

There are NO backups anywhere!!
I read the post by Greg from 2011 ... and NO luck.  (Where are the auto recovery files stored for Visio 2010?
I have my PC set to see hidden files.
I looked in Local\AppData\Microsoft\Visio ... NOTHING.
I went into options and add-ins and turned off macros ... exited Visio, exited the PC, turned the PC back on, went to Visio ... still no good.

The autorecover11.ini is basically empty ... no file name.

I tried doing the search by datemodified: using yesterday's date ... NOTHING for yesterday's files.
I tried doing the search by %temp%\*.vsd.  (Again, NOTHING for yesterday's files!!)

Please, Microsoft, tell my WHY if I have backup set to every 10 minutes that there are NO backup files anywhere on the PC.

Why did Microsoft decide to "help" the user by clearing the contents of Local\AppDatawhen the user logs off?
Why is it that with Word and Excel, I can specify the location for my autorecovery files ... but NOT in Visio??
Why is it that with Word and Excel, I can find physical files (with autosave extensions or some kind of temp file) ... but NOT with Visio??
With Word and Excel, I get a Recovery panel upon entering the application if I have recovery files ... but I'm NOT getting a Recovery panel with Visio ... never.
Why bother to tease the user into setting autorecovery if Viso doesn't save the files ... doesn't allow the user to get back to the files?????????

I'm literally in TEARS right now ... I've lost literally MONTHS of work that I have no apparent way to recover.

Is there "any" way to find the temp files that Visio "supposedly" save of my hours and hours of work???

I even attempted to contact support online and hit a bump when it came to entering the PID.  I found my PID by going to File > Options > Help ...
I entered the PID # and get a message that it wasn't a valid PID.  (The example online showed four groups of five digits.  MY PID has 12345-123-12345-12345.)

Help??? Anyone????
