Problem with resizing shapes

Hello,

I have two identical shapes (they are both off-page references). Essentially, they are both squares, with 4 corner connector points and 4 middle-of-each-side connector points.

With one of them, when I try to resize a middle-of-side connector point, it resizes the entire shape symmetrically, shrinking or expanding both the height and the width.

With the other, when I do the same operation, it only resizes the side that such connector point is attached to.

There must be some setting that controls this?

Any ideas?
